Year 8 School magazine

This term Year 8 have been working on a school magazine and we think you’ll agree that they are both very professional and well presented. We have learnt how to write various text types and how to produce a magazine that the audience will enjoy. Well done to both classes for their hard work on this project.

Journey to Mars - NASA’s Perseverance Rover

Year 7 and 8 Competition

On the 18th February 2021 NASA landed the Perseverance Rover on Mars.

The following morning, Years 7 and 8 at Almunecar International School began their own mission.

Their challenge was to research the rover landing and to write a single page report on the mission.

With their writing frame and some useful links they endeavoured to complete a magazine report, one page only and in their own words.

The entrants were excellent, providing us with two superb displays for the classrooms and Mr Burrows kindly lent his expertise in journalism to judge the work.

Congratulations to Valeria (Year 7) and Norah (Year 8) for their winning reports. The praise for these reports was very high. There was also two runners up that Mr Burrows felt deserved a mention too, Nuria and Inigo (Year 8).

Well done to all those that participated!

Creative and Performance

This half term, 8Y have been working on Script Writing.  Due to Covid restrictions we have had to be innovative in our approach.  The students worked with a cardboard box and their imaginations to create these wonderful theatres with their interesting puppet characters.
Each team had a different approach but the results were impressive.
We utilised cross-curricular links and were supported by our Music teacher, Mrs Leveridge, who helped the students to create their raps.
We hope you enjoy their plays.
